Ivan was my first sporting hero. A true giant and a model of professionalism. I’m honoured to have seen him ride. In my eyes he is up there with the greats of any sport. No other single person has made such a difference to their sport. My sincere condolences to all the Mauger family. RIP Ivan.

Still trying to come to terms with this devastating news. The race that stands out in my mind was a match against Poole Pirates at Hyde Road. Ivan had been unbeaten in the league since the start of the season and in this particular race for some unknown reason, he had forgotten to turn on his fuel tap. He gave the other three riders half a lap start. As soon as he turned his fuel on, off he went and won the race. Truly magnificent. God bless Ivan. You can now meet up with Peter, Dick and Soren,

The greatest speedway rider that I ever saw and from all that I have read he was an even greater family man. A giant of the sport that will never be eclipsed. RIP and all best wishes to Ivan's loving family.

Thanks for great memories of nights at Hyde Road. That characteristic snap back of the head as Ivan accelerated off the bends stays in the mind as well as his courage and professionalism. Much love to his family and friends around the world.

The end of an era with the passing of a superstar who was a household name in the 60s and 70s. I remember how he spoke to me and signed my autograph book at Kings Lynn in the early 70s. No airs or graces, a true gentleman and probably the greatest rider of all time.

So sorry to hear of the passing of our Ivan, he was a game changer in how riders approached Speedway in the 70’s. The total professional. Also it’s quite clear he was a man who loved his family life , Dementia is a cruel disease, it’s so hard to see your loved one enter a different life and being unable to help. R.I.P. Ivan, sleep at peace and thank you for all the pleasure you gave us over the years ❤️
