As Secretary of the Speedway Riders Association from 1981 to 1992; I was occasionally able to get some pearls of wisdom from the man himself. A great and distinguished career for Ivan who could be at times a complicated man. Safe journey Ivan.

Condolences to Raye and family, I knew you and Ivan many years ago when I worked at John Drings, Thebarton. It was when you lived in Adelaide, and at Rowley Park Speedway on Friday nights. Many great memories at Jack Young's place. Watching him race was always exciting.

Because of all he achieved as a rider it was therefore a great privilege to be asked by Ivan to commentate for him at the first long track meeting that he promoted st Bathurst Showground. Without doubt, one of the all time greats of motorsport.

Ivan was the greatest speedway rider of all time. I happened to "meet" him at Fred Jolly's motor bike shop in Prospect S A when Kym Bonython first brought him to Adelaide and then followed his career from then on. His achievements will NEVER be beaten. His book "The Will To Win" is a great record of his career. R I P Ivan

Firstly,my sincere condolences to Ivan's family on the loss of a truly great man. As a youth I can remember watching Ivan dominating the Speedway World and his wonderful duels with Ole Olsen at Monmore Green always gave great entertainment and pleasure to the fans. "Meticulous attention to detail is the hallmark of a champion" is a quote that Ivan made and I have always remembered- because it epitomised Ivan ..... not only a true champion but a Legend who set the standard for today's stars.

Like many of my generation, Ivan Mauger was a household name. He epitomised all that many of us love about this great sport. Daring, courageous and focused, he never lost his will to win but had time for his fans too. I was lucky to see him ride at a few venues in the UK and was in awe of the man. Watching him on the television only made my enthusiasm for the sport all the greater. Seeing such epic battles with the likes of Olsen, Collins and many other opponents was an art form in itself. We wish his family well and our thoughts and blessings go out to them. Thanks for the memories as they are ones I’ll always cherish. God bless
