I send my condolences to all the Mauger family. I watched Ivan when he rode at Belle Vue and at Hull. He was undoubtedly the most professional rider of the era. I used to love mixing with the Aces riders in the bar after a Hyde Road match; but where was Ivan? He was already home stripping down his engine ready for his next meeting! A few years ago, I was fortunate to meet him at his book signing at the National Speedway Museum at Paradise Wildlife Park. I will treasure our photograph together. God bless him and the family. May he rest in peace.

May I offer my condolences to the family of Ivan. Ivan was my late father's favourite speedway rider of all time. As an 11 year old I still remember meeting Ivan and Ole Olsen at a event held at a electrical shop for the benefit of the relatives of Gary Petersen. Ivan and Ole made my day just by chatting speedway with me and signing countless autographs for fans. R.I.P Ivan

Always looked forward to Belle Vue coming to Poole to see if any home rider could beat Ivan. Very rarely this happened and it brought the house down when it did. Ivan was that big a superstar. Great memories of seeing at all tracks. Love and condolences to his family.

As a Coventry / Olsen fan, I looked forward to the visits to Brandon of the other superstars of the day, and they didn't come any greater than Ivan, a true legend on and off the track. RIP champ.

I was Six when Ivan came to Belle Vue and I can remember what a winning machine he was, almost unbeatable especially if he got out first, which he did most of the time. I used to look at the opposition and wonder who could give him a race tonight. I used to spend half an hour glaring at the pics of Ivan and all the other Wright Wood pictures in the photo booth then I used to make my way to the stand. You could look down on the Aces riders pit from the broken glass windows, There was Ivan's bikes with all the others but my how they stood out. No disrespect to the other riders but his bikes were gleaming, those great looking sparkling blue guards, the shining chrome, awesome to look at. Ivan Mauger brought professionalism to speedway, there were maybe two or three lads that went to speedway at my school but if you asked a non speedway follower who Ivan Mauger was they knew of him and you can't say that today!! R.I.P. to a true legend at a time when that word is well over used.

Introduced to the fabulous Ivan by my late father and was delighted when his farewell tour came to Powderhall. Was in awe of his achievements and how he made speedway part of the wider UK national sports scene. Condolences to his family, his star will ever shine bright.
