Probably the best speedway rider ever, certainly the most successful and the most professional. A gentleman who was a great ambassador for the sport we all love. Thanks for the memories, Ivan.

Went in 1968 with the Poole Supporters club to Gothenburg in Sweden to see the World Speedway championship. Had seats by the start line and saw Ivan win the world championship. An awesome evening which I will always remember

Ivan Mauger was my favourite speedway rider. I watched him many times in the 70's and have his autograph. I even had the mudguards on my pushbike painted with a Black and White chequered pattern (like Ivan's crash helmet) by my Dad, then it became my speedway bike. Also memories of seeing Ivan loading up his bikes into a Rover saloon car after watching him at Wimbledon speedway stadium. RIP Ivan and thank you for all the entertainment and sportsmanship you gave the sport. Alan Williams.

Aged 17 I was a very poor novice at Cradley Heath in 1964 and Ivan arranged a midweek meeting at Dudley Wood with the riders and the second-halfers. Even then he was a sort of shop steward pushing for riders' rights.

Ivan Mauger will always be remembered as a Speedway & Hull Vikings legend. It's a cliche but he was, and will always be, Simply The Best. RIP Ivan.

Saw Ivan ride lots of times at Belle Vue and he certainly was something special. He lived near me for a while in Denton when he first came to ride for the Aces. Fond memories of an absolute speedway legend. Rest in peace Ivan.

RIP true speedway legend. Lucky enough to have enjoyed watching Ivan so many times following Cradley in the Seventies and been at so many of the main events of that time in which he showed his brilliance. Always remember his professionalism; he always seemed a step ahead of the rest in sponsorship and media attraction. True great.

Had the pleasure of watching Ivan while he was with Hull. Seeing him at Sheffield was something else. His farewell meeting at Belle Vue (Hyde Road) wasn't as well supported as it should have been - but it was 4th November! Our thoughts and prayers are with his family. Another star watching from above. RIP Mr Mauger.

I will never ever forget Ivan riding for Newcastle Diamonds. He was superb in every way and he made a permanent impression on me as a young boy. I was so proud for him that he went on to achieve so many accolades and memorable triumphs in his career. There was never any doubt in my mind that one day he would become World Champion. Sport worldwide has lost a giant! Sincere condolensces to his widow Raye and family

Little green mini van, front wheel, handlebars sticking out tied up rear doors, who would have thought here is the man to become the greatest sportsman on two wheels? Ivan Mauger MBE OBE .. rest now Ivan.

I started attending Speedway at Coventry in 1968 aged 13 and remain a speedway fan still. I saw Ivan ride many times for each of this British League teams and at individual events including World Finals. He was thrilling, and spectacular as a rider. As a member of the St Johns Ambulance Brigade on duty at Coventry Stadium I got to meet/talk to him on a number of occasions. He was an amazing man. He reinforced my love of speedway that has given me so many fantastic experiences in my life. Thank you Ivan. RIP

When i went to Wimbledon speedway as a very young kid in the 70's, Ivan was probably the first person I recognised as a superstar. He was the man to beat on the track and I shall never forget the larger crowds and the anticipation when he came to town. Truly wonderful memories and massive respect for what he brought to the sport. Thank you Ivan.
